Essential Information
How much will it cost?
We know that it's been tough year for many of the organisations we work with, therefore BYC has been working hard to reduce the cost of all our events to make them as accessible to as many young people as possible. This year we are thrilled to offer BYC Conventions for FREE including a travel bursary of up to £20.00 per young person attending.
Supported by:
This year the running of BYC Conventions are supported by The Co-operative.
Travel bursaries of upto £20.00 per young person are provided by Awards for All Scotland.
How many young people can attend?
To make this offer as fair and as accessible as possible, we are allowing each group to register a maximum of five young people, plus a maximum of two support workers.
When do I need to register by?
BYC will close registration on June 20th 2011 at 12:00 noon, we expect spaces to 'sell out' quite quickly, so be quick. After June 20th should there be any spaces left, we will offer those additional spaces to groups that have already registered.
What do I need to pay for?
The only cost you will need to cover is travel costs for workers, plus any travel cost that exceeds the £20.00 travel bursary.
Is food and drink included?
YES - refreshments will be provided during registration and during the afternoon comfort break, a light lunch will also be provided. We cater for vegetarians as standard; however, if you have any additional dietary requirements, you must let BYC know by 4th July 2011.
Can I buy extra spaces at BYC Convention?
Unfortunately no, you may only bring a maximum of five young people and two support workers.
Can I bring six young people and one worker?
No
Can I register spaces now even if I don't know the names of the young people attending?
YES - providing that you provide BYC with the names by July 4th 2011.
How do we get our travel bursary?
In order for you to receive your travel bursary, you MUST provide receipts for young peoples travel. We will not be able to reimburse travel expenses without receipts and we cannot refund travel for workers.
Does the travel bursary cover support workers?
Unfortunately no. The bursary will only be provided for young people up to a maximum of £20 per young person.
Cancellation Policy
BYC will be enforcing a strict cancellation policy, any cancellations received after July 4th or any no-shows on the day will be charged £50 plus and travel bursary that you have received, you will need to read and accept the full cancellation policy during the registration process.

Hosted By
British Youth Council
The British Youth Council, as the national youth council of the UK, aims to connect with our member organisations and networks of local youth councils, to empower young people aged 25 and under, wherever they are from, to have a say and be heard. We aim to help them to participate in decisions that affect them; have a voice and campaign on issues they believe in, inspire them to have a positive impact, and gain recognition for their positive contribution to communities, society and the world.
